Update July 27th, 2020: Added a chord search box to the chords page. This is helpful for chords like a Minor 9th. In the chord list, that chord shows up as Minor Dom. 7th 9th. As explained on the naming convention page, Guitar Viewer has chosen to use chord names that are as precise as possible in order to minimize any ambiguity. However, this can make it harder to find chords which have a commonly known name that is different from our precise chord names. The chord search box fixes this since it allows one to type in the common name of a chord. When a match is found, that chord is automatically selected in the chord list.
Added some helpful text to most of the pages, including headers to indicate what page you are on.
Update July 18th, 2020: Added the Derive Chords page. Pick any scale. Press the [Derive Chords] button. The result is a list of chords, one for each note in the scale, where all the notes in the chord are in the scale. For instance, take C Major. You will get diagrams for chords such as C Major 7th, D Minor 7th, and so on all the way to B♭ Minor Dim. Dom. 7th. If you want to write a song with that Harmonic Minor sound, you'll probably want to use chords comprised with notes from the Harmonic Minor scale. Now, you can figure out those chords at the click of a button. If you want to edit the diagram and change which frets are shown, just click that circular arrow next to the chord diagram.
The names of the chords have been updated and a few more added. If you would like to see details about how the chord names change or a list of common chords and what their names changed to, look here: chord naming convention.
Update July 16th, 2020: Scales and chords have been totally revamped to make them easier to use. It is now possible to print scale and chord diagrams. In Chrome and Edge, simply press <control+p> and you will see a print preview. In FireFox, it is recommended to go to the settings menu (the hamburger on the top right hand side of the screen) and select [Print] from the menu.
